About

Joining the Pre-school...

We would love to meet you and your child before you register for a place at our Preschool. Please contact us to arrange a time to visit when we will be available to show you around and answer any questions you may have.

When you have decided to take a place with us you will need to complete a child registration form prior to your child starting. We will arrange a time for this to be completed and will arrange a number of settling in visits to help your child get to know us and their key person before they start a full session. The registration fee and first terms’ fees will need to be paid in full prior to your child’s start date.

We accept new children throughout the year, subject to space availability.

Woolstone Preschool prides itself on inclusive practice. We do not discriminate against anyone for any reason and will endeavour to accommodate any child regardless of need.

Your child will need to bring a bag clearly named, containing a change of clothes. If your child wears nappies, you will also need to provide nappies and wet wipes.

Children who attend during the morning session must bring a packed lunch that clearly has their name on the outside.  We have a healthy food policy that we ask parents to follow.

Your child will need a coat, hat and gloves in the colder weather and sun cream and sun hat in warmer weather.

Our routine...

When the children arrive, we ask that you help them to hang their belongings and then settle them into play. We have registration around 9:40am when the children briefly come together. Registration finishes by 9.45am, the children are then able to freely access a range of activities and opportunities to support their play and learning.

A healthy snack and a drink of water or milk is available between 9.45am to 10.15am, this enables the children to choose when they are ready to break from activity and have something to eat. Access to the outside is available for most of the morning so children can free flow between inside and out. At 11.15am the children come together again for a group time which includes a story and some singing. Then it’s time for lunch!

After lunch the children are able to freely access a range of activities and opportunities, some will have been available in the morning for the children to continue their play interests and some will be different to ensure we offer variety that helps the children engage in purposeful play. The children also access outside and enjoy a mid afternoon snack before they head home.

We are proud to have achieved the Smile Award, our food and drink procedure is available for parents with information to help you provide a healthy packed lunch.
